SMOKEY'S BAYOU BASH
Homecoming 2007
Friday, November 2-Saturday, November 3

The Volunteer alumni returned to campus in record
numbers to celebrate Smokey’s Bayou Bash, the theme for our 2007
homecoming activities.
Alumni and friends participated
in a weekend packed with exciting events that reunited them with
friends and reconnected them to their university. On Friday, Nov. 2,
our centerpiece event, Celebrating Our Heroes: Past and Present
honored all UT military alumni and friends for their contributions
to our country. The reunion concluded with a salute during
Saturday’s game for their unwavering service. Comments from those
attending described their experience as “a reverent celebration” and
“truly special for all veterans”. Other remarks included “thanks for
making it a great weekend” and “words cannot express my gratitude”.
On Saturday at 12 noon in Circle
Park, over 500 alumni and friends attended our Party in the Park, the
largest campus tailgating party. Activities included face painting,
door prizes, music, cheerleaders, pep band, and a kids corner.
Over 105,000 volunteer fans
cheered as the Vols defeated Louisiana Lafayette 59 -7.
Other homecoming activities
included the Black Alumni Social, the College of Engineering and the
College of Law barbecue, the 30th anniversary celebration
of the Love United Gospel Choir and the Seventh Annual College of
Social Work Gala. Click
